What We Hope to Accomplish With Your Help

While we are proud of our accomplishments, much remains to be done. Future initiatives and goals include:
  • A continued and increased focus on reading readiness and remediation.
  • Working with the South Bend Community School Corporation to increase our support of professional development programs for school teachers and administrators.
  • Expanding our outreach into the community to gain more widespread support and understanding of the challenges facing our public schools and schoolchildren.

How The Public Education Foundation is Funded

The Foundation receives no federal or state dollars. It is supported entirely through:
  • Corporate or small business donations
  • Individual one-time gifts
  • Annual giving, including employee contributions**
  • Planned giving through wills, estates, trusts and life insurance policies
  • Memorial and tribute gifts
  • Special education license plates - with $25.00 of the yearly fee designated for the Foundation
  • The Thank-A-Teacher program, allowing parents and others to contribute to the Foundation in honor of their child's teacher(s)
  • Contributions to the Foundation's Endowment Fund, protected through the investment program of the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, which ensures future grant-giving capability.
  • Payroll Deduction Plan for South Bend Community School Corporation Employees.
**Ask if your employer is one of the many who will match your donation.
