Louetta Turner was a beloved teacher in the South Bend Community School Corporation. Her collogues and friends began the Louette Turner Memorial Scholarship in 2021 in her memory. This scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior in SBCSC who is planning to pursue a career in education.
We want to congratulate James Whitcomb Riley High School senior, Alexandria Parks, on being selected as this year's scholarship recipient. We wish her well!

AEP Foundation Awards Grant to Support South Bend Teachers
-
The South Bend Education Foundation has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the American
Electric Power Foundation, upon the recommendation of Indiana Michigan Power (I&M). The
grant will support the Foundation’s Teacher Wish List and Teacher Store initiatives. Both
efforts provide support for teachers through funding of needed items and directly providing
classroom supplies. -
Teachers in Indiana spend an average of $460 annually out of their own pocket for students' supplies and enhancing their classroom experience. If you are interested in helping to lighten this burden, please check out our website. All requests are $300 or less, but they still make a huge impact of the lives of South Bend Community School Corporation students and teachers.
