It is our honor to introduce our 2022 grant recipients. Thank you for your dedication to our students.

Teacher Grants

South Bend Education Foundation grants $21,000 dollars worth of teacher grants annually. These grants are a result of multiple family endowments held at the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, that were created and have grown over the years. 

Thank you to the families that established the following grants which allow us to support our students and schools.

Sarah Corke

Clay High School

Congratulations Sarah Corke of Clay High School for being awarded the esteemed EDFO Dean grant. This grant will allow all students at Clay to experience hands-on, scientific learning through the use of digital microscopes and a telescopes

Patrick Klamm

Dickinson Fine Arts Academy

Congratulations to Patrick Klamm of Dickinson Fine Arts Academy for being awarded the outstanding EDFO Laven grant. This grant will allow all students at Dickinson to further explore the structural makeup of cells and other matter through the usage of microscopes.

Tracy Gnivecki

Lincoln Elementary

Congratulations to Tracy Gnivecki of Lincoln Elementary for being awarded the prestigious EDFO Bauer grant. This grant will assist in building reading, phonics, fluency and writing skills in students at Lincoln.

Catherine Washington

Swanson Traditional School

Congratulations to Catherine Washington and Lindsey Walsh of Swanson Traditional School for being awarded the honorable EDFO Wilson and Warner grants. These grants will allow Swanson teachers to assess students on their reading and fluency skills using a guided reading leveling system.

Nancy Simoni

Riley High School 

Congratulations to Nancy Simoni of Riley High School for being awarded the esteemed EDFO Simon grant. This grant will provide hands-on, ecological studying for all freshmen at Riley.

Adam Zache

Swanson Traditional School

Congratulations to Adam Zache of Swanson Traditional School for being awarded the prestigious EDFO Kelly grant. This grant will provide students with a novel study that incorporates all types of figurative language and thematic elements while encouraging reading and writing in the classroom.

John Van Dyke

Jackson Middle School

Congratulations to John Van Dyke of Jackson Middle School for being awarded the prestigious EDFO Tollens grant. This grant will help support the ongoing efforts of the PAWS program by providing incentives to encourage positive behavior at Jackson.

Shannon Newman

Clay High School

Congratulations to Shannon Newman of Clay High School for being awarded the prestigious EDFO Tollens grant. This grant will provide needed supplies for the after school tutoring program at Clay.

Emily Pantelleria

Adams High School

Congratulations to Emily Pantelleria of Adams High School for being awarded a fine arts grant through the Schrimer, Metz, and Hendrix grants. This grant will allow instruments at Adams to be upgraded, thus improving the playing characteristics of many woodwind instruments.

Heather Ducharme

Adams High School

Congratulations to Heather Ducharme of Adams High School for being awarded the Tulchinsky Fine Arts grant. This grant will provide the Adams show choir with much needed costumes that can be used for years to come.

Principal Grant

Principal grants are available to building administrators in SBCSC (including the Empowerment Zone Schools) or are employed by SBCSC and partner with a South Bend Community School Corporation certified professional in the academic year. This grant awards up to $1,000 to five individuals.

You have an idea that can enhance student learning building that aligns directly with Indiana K-12 Academic Standards.

Amy Troyer

Swanson Traditional School

Congratulations to Principal Amy Troyer of Swanson Traditional School for being awarded one of the Principal Grants. This grant will provide for the Magical Moments Creating Mathemagicians seminar for all staff members at Swanson.

Principal William Waskom

Kennedy Academy

Congratulations to Principal William Waskom of Kennedy Academy for being awarded one of the Principal Grants. This grant will fund a Sensory Motor Pathway to support social and emotional growth for the students at Kenedy.

Professional Development Grants

Your participation in the event/training/class will contribute to your own  Professional Development as it relates to your current role, as well as have a direct impact on the learning of students and/or professional development of colleagues. This grant awards up to $2,500.
